Frozen Banana & Greek Yogurt Dog Ice Cream Recipe
This post shows you the Frozen Banana and Greek Yogurt Dog Ice Cream recipe.

If you’re looking for a healthy summer treat for your dog, then you’re gonna love this recipe! It’s not really rocket science to come up with dog ice cream recipes, as they will basically eat anything with peanut butter and yogurt, but I still love experimenting and making small frozen treats!
The best recipes are the ones where you have 3 or fewer ingredients and where you only need a couple of minutes to prep.
For this recipe, I used small silicone molds, so the treats came out super tiny. It’s because Ricco is a small German Spitz, and he prefers bite-sized pieces.
Btw, you can eat this ice cream, too, so if you want to stay healthy this summer, you’re gonna love this recipe!

Ingredients
- 1 large super-ripe banana
- 3-4 tablespoons unsweetened Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter (regular one is okay, but you can also get the one specifically made for dogs!)

Instructions
- Mash the banana with a fork in a bowl or blend it in a blender until super smooth.
- Add the Greek yogurt, then mix well, and at the end, add the peanut butter at room temperature.
- Mix everything together and make sure that the peanut butter spreads out evenly.
- Then, fill the silicone molds (or ice cube trays).
- Freeze for about 3–4 hours until the treats are completely solid.
- Pop out a couple of treats and give them to your dog as a special frozen treat!

Serving Size
This recipe makes about 8–10 small treats, depending on the mold size. I give my dog one or two treats a day as a summer snack after a walk.
Just a word of warning! Not all dogs can tolerate frozen treats that well, so start small and see how your dog reacts. Sometimes, these frozen treats can cause a bit of a tummy issue, so if it’s your first time making these, give them one of two treats before you start making them regularly.
Storage
Keep the Banana & Greek Yogurt Dog Ice Cream in the molds, or pop them out and keep them in a freezer bag. They will be good for up to 2-3 weeks, so don’t make a huge batch unless you have more than one dog!
Dog Inspector Tips
- You can double the recipe and make a bigger batch if you have a larger dog or if you have more dogs!
- You can also use regular ice cube molds.
- If your dog doesn’t eat dairy products and can’t digest Greek yogurt, you can make this ice cream with a sugar-free coconut yogurt that you can find in the international sections of supermarkets. Whenever you’re buying sugar-free stuff, make sure that it’s pure, unsweetened, and doesn’t have harmful artificial sweeteners.
- This recipe works really well with cooked pumpkin! And it’s really good with applesauce!

Why I Love It
I’ll be honest. I make this banana and Greek yogurt dog ice cream recipe for the entire family, and we love it. We are trying to cut sugar, so I really need something healthy and homemade in the summer! These treats are perfect for all of us.
But when it comes to my dog, ever since I started making more homemade treats, I feel better knowing that I don’t feed him a lot of ultra-processed treats.
Even though vet-approved processed dog treats are super fine, I know that he can get a cool summer treat with just natural ingredients!
This frozen banana and Greek yogurt dog ice cream recipe is healthy for dogs because it has:
- Banana – A simple fruit with a medium glycemic index, although super sweet. It’s rich in fiber, vitamin B6, and potassium, which is super important for electrolyte balance. Bananas are good for digestion!
- Greek Yogurt – It’s amazing for gut health as it has lots of probiotics, and it’s also a great source of protein and calcium. It’s good for aging dogs and puppies and recommended for gut health issues.
- Peanut Butter – It’s fatty and rich in calories, but it’s also a good source of healthy fats and protein. Peanut butter is a good source of vitamin E and provides a good source of energy.
