Refreshing Melon Dog Ice Cream Recipe (Dairy-Free)
This post shows an amazingly refreshing, dairy-free Melon Dog Ice Cream Recipe with a unique twist!
I made this one to be hydrating and soothing, perfect for hot summer days and picnics when your dog needs extra cooling.

This is the most refreshing dog ice cream recipe I’ve ever made since it’s dairy-free, full of water, and doesn’t have any heavy ingredients.
It’s made with real fruit (melon) and parsley!! I’ve added it for extra freshness (it refreshes their breath) and for its antioxidant properties! It works so well in this recipe.

Ingredients
- ½ cup melon, (honeydew or cantaloupe)
- 6-7 fresh parsley leaves
- 1/2 tsp organic honey
- 1/2 cup cold water

Instructions
- Chop the melon into small chunks and remove any seeds or rind. You can also blend the melon, but I prefer to have chewy pieces.
- Combine melon, parsley, and honey, and mash everything a bit with a fork.
- Add water and mix until the honey is evenly combined.
- Pour the mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays.
- Freeze for 4 hours.
Serving Size
I made this as a test recipe, so I only got five frozen treats, but they are pretty large. I would suggest you give your dog only one per day as that is enough.

Storage
Pop the frozen treats out of the molds and store them in a freezer bag or container for up to 4 weeks.
Dog Inspector Tips
- You can mix melon types and use honeydew like I did, but also cantaloupe or even watermelon.
- I added a little bit of honey to make it tastier and sweeter, as it’s pretty watery and bland. But if your dog doesn’t eat any kind of sugar, you can skip honey.

Why I Love It
This is one of the cleanest recipes I’ve made for Ricco, with no yogurt and no heavy ingredients. Just hydration, flavor, and a little breath-freshening boost. It’s especially great for dogs who don’t do well with dairy or just want something light after play.
Why this recipe is healthy for dogs:
- Melon – High in water content, vitamin C, and antioxidants. Great for hydration and digestion.
- Parsley – Packed with vitamins K, C, and A. Helps reduce gas and freshen breath.
Parsley for Dogs: A Fresh Herb With Big Benefits
Parsley is rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and C, and chlorophyll, which can help freshen your dog’s breath and support their immune system.
It has mild anti-inflammatory properties that may help soothe joint pain and support overall wellness.
It’s best known as a herb that supports digestion, so you can use parsley in meals, cooked meat, soups, and stews.
I hope you liked this recipe! Let me know if you make it, and don’t forget to pin this one for your summer dog treat board!
Love, life, and fur forever!
